My story

When Jennifer was 7 years old, her parents both died of HIV/AIDS. At that time there was no one left to take care of her, eventually a village elder took her to the children's home. The village elder would come to pick her up after a while. To this day, he hasn't been back to pick her up. Jennifer is doing well now, she is going to school and having a great time. Jennifer has a twin sister who also lives in the children's home.

The project in Mozambique that your sponsor child is part of is the Nova Vida project of Pastor Fernando and his wife Amalia. Together they have a growing municipality in Maluana, about 30 kilometers outside Maputo, the capital. It is an area where people fought and suffered a lot during the civil war. They started an evangelical church, which now employs more than two hundred people. In addition to their work as pastors, they also have the vision to catch (orphaned) children. In Bobole where they live, they have taken a number of children into their home. In Maluana where the municipality is, a number of children also live in a house that has just been built. This vision of taking children in with the people of the church or with the pastor of the congregation fits perfectly with the work of Iris Ministries which was founded and is led by Roland and Heidi baker. pastor Fernando's project is therefore part of Iris Ministries.
